Congratulations to Geneway Tang, 2022 recipient of the bikeROCKstar scholarship! Geneway is from Macungie, PA. At only 20 years of age, is a four time National Champion, ranked #1 in the US for the Keirin, and ranked #2 for the Match Sprint. As a USA Cycling certified coach, he is already committed to the TURTLE Effect way of paying it forward in “helping community programs and supporting the young kids, and bringing them into the sport.” Asked about his cycling goals, Geneway replies, “…competing at the highest level and inspiring those around me, showing that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve your dreams.”
Good evening my Brothahs and Sistahs!!
It’s been a minute, and we at the TURTLE Effect Foundation have a few bike-ROCK-star racing updates regarding Geneway Tang. Well, the pro racing season has BEGUN and Geneway has been sprinting his QUADS OFF!!
His first achievement was a SILVER medal against a stacked field in the opening UCI Festival of Speed Tournament at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown (a.k.a. “T-Town”). The winner was Olympian Kwesi Browne, from Trinidad & Tobago—with others from South Africa and New Zealand further down the results list.
THEN this past weekend he earned a BRONZE medal in the keirin where 1st and 2nd place finishers were just, in his words, “a couple of Olympians.”
The final heat was CRAY CRAY FAST—the last 200 meters was clocked at 10.3 seconds!!
… in the words of the TEF board member Todd Stodolski who hooked Geneway up with his “sick” GO-FAST equipment “it’s going to be a good Summer.”
AND… speaking of TODD… this past week he was crowned 2022 Masters Track National Champion in the 50-54 Match Sprints!! There’s good reason he is in charge of bikeROCKstar Scholarship Operations–his competition was CRAY CRAY OFF THE CHAIN fierce, but they COULD NOT CRACK the TURTLE SHELL!!
Way to go H.T.!!
As Turtle was fond of saying, “You are WORTH YOUR WEIGHT in SOLID GOLD DANCERS!”
